The Bab Agnaou is one of nineteen "Bab" which means door, in Marrakech. It was built in the 13th century by the Almohad dynasty. The name " Agnou " or Gnaoua, means "black skin people" in Beber language. This gate was called " Bab al Kohl " (which also means black people) or " Bab al Qasr " ( the palace gate ) based on historical sources. Bab Agnou is the entrance to the royal kasbah in the southern part of the medina of Marrakech.
