Our Team

The story starts in 2003 when a French-Moroccan convinces his friends to join him and start a guesthouse in his home country. His dream is to introduce Morocco to his close friends, and to show them how beautiful his country is.

So everyone agrees to invest in a property in the heart of the famous Medina of Marrakech: And soon the group of friends, coming from all around the world (Vietnam, France, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia) falls for an old traditional house with its superb original zelliges (traditional moroccan tiles).

Renovation starts then, with the usual up and downs of a construction site but a few months later, its the amazement for most of us, who actually did not know Morocco. This time we discover a wonderful country and city, with a strong and rich culture: the smells, the colors, the delicious food, the generosity and the kindness of the local people, everything seems so intense, warm and charming. Our riad is the sum of all those qualities of course!

The French touristic guide « Le Guide du Routard » also falls in love with our Riad and accepts to reference it in his new version. Backpackers soon follow, as they seem to appreciate the simple and authentic accommodation the Riad offers: at this time it was only shared bathroom and toilets for all the rooms !

The riad Chamali works so well the first years that we decide to build an extension. This is when the second courtyard with the swimming pool appears, joining the first one filled with orange trees. At the same time, the riad goes from 6 to 11 rooms, and each room gets its en-suite bathrooms, to adapt to the new customers arriving in Marrakech.

In 2018, we are finalizing the renovation of a third patio, with the idea of ​​constantly improving the offer of services, and the tranquility of our guests: this new patio constitutes the new reception area of ​​the Riad, with a restaurant offering 4 lounges, a workshop for cooking classes, and spaces to host work meetings, or business seminars. The patios dedicated to the rooms are now separated from the restaurant / breakfast area.

In April 2022, despite two difficult years linked to the pandemic, we continue our expansion with the opening of a new adjacent patio with a living room on the ground floor and 4 new Deluxe rooms. This allows us a greater capacity (15 rooms with the possibility of accommodating 34 people), and in particular for group events, birthdays, weddings...

In October 2023, our development takes a new turn with the opening of two new and magnificent suites (which can accommodate up to 4 people per suite), bringing our capacity to 17 rooms, 42 people.

Next step: the SPA! Because having a Hammam and massage rooms on site is even better! The works are in progress with a goal of commissioning in January 2024.
 

We constantly focus on improving our house to give the best services to our customers while keeping the family and friendly atmosphere we first admire in this holiday house.

Our group of friends is getting a little bit older, some of us have a family now and our children can’t wait to visit the Riad too every time they get a chance.

Besides, most of our staff had been working with us from the beginning and today they are also part of our big family. We want you to consider the Riad like a second home “away from home” where you can relax, share adventures and new experiences!
